How to play

Each day, one English word gets excavated. Two moves, from the surface down:

• Cut — tap between letters to split the word into its ancient pieces, then Check. You're not told how many pieces there are — and some words never split at all, so you can call No cut. A wrong guess costs a life.
• Translate — drag each meaning card onto its piece. The cards wear the colors of their home language — but beware: the pool contains traps.

Finish the dig and you'll see what the word literally means — window is "wind-eye," muscle is "little mouse."

Each phase gives you 3 lives (♥) — a wrong check costs one, and at zero the answer is revealed. Colors are explained in the field guide.
